I hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's Day. This post is a bit heavy with information and may need to be digested bits at a time so here we go:
bit #1: A special thanks to the great people of Mayarts.com for giving me the great opportunity to create "something" with their fabulous ribbons. I'm posting a quick "how to" on brooches for those of you that are in the search for an easy project that's adorable for spring. So here's the quickest how to:
If the pictures are not self explanatory, then the steps are easy as 1,2, and 3. Cut a strand of ribbon any where from 12-18 inches. (the more ribbon, the wavier the frill) either with a sewing machine, or by hand, give it a simple stitch. (you will be pulling on one of the loose strands to make it wavy) cut 2 circles about 2.5 inches in diameter and using a glue gun, glue the ribbon to the felt turning it as you go. Embellish the centers with buttons, clips, pearls, or anything sparkly, and Voila!
Feel free to add feathers, lace or any other decorative embellishments to make your brooch unique!
you can find the backings at any Hobby Lobby or art supply store. Give it a few stitches, and ta da!
I made a handful of these to give away to family, friends and new blogger friends which brings me to...
Bit #2: I thought of the theme of "Love makes the world go 'round" for this Valentine's Day because of all the chaos I've been hearing on the news. I wanted to give these brooches away as a sign of love and friendship that would be given free as a "pay it forward" if you will. A few of these were mailed out and are still on their way to their destination (thanks to my procrastination and bad weather) but I will be posting about the recipients as I receive the photos. Which brings me to...
Bit #3: Meet Tiffany who's sporting the fruits of my labor! (patting my self on the back, hahaha) Thanks so much for the support Tiffany! I hope you get to wear it often with those awesome looks of yours ;)
And finally (phew!) Bit #4: My first Giveaway! Hooray!
In the spirit of making more of these go 'round, I'm giving one away, so if you want one of these babies, here's what you got to do:
